Bone Grafting
When teeth are missing over a period of time bone loss can occur in that area. This can also happen due to gum disease or injury. This degeneration results in an area in which there is poor quantity or quality of bone for suitable implant placement. In this instance, implants would not have been possible.
Through advancements in oral surgery, we now have the ability to grow bone in those areas needed, giving us the opportunity to place an implant. In addition, we may also use a special membrane to promote bone growth and protect the graft.
